At U.S. Water, our team is made up of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to provide clean, safe water and reliable water and wastewater systems for the communities we serve. One such individual is Scott Hersey, a seasoned operator whose passion for water and wastewater operations has defined his career.

Scott joined U.S. Water in 2023, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in the industry. Today, he serves as an operator at our Nassau County Utilities Amelia Island site, where his expertise and leadership have already made a lasting impact. In 2024, Scott was honored with the ‘Operator of the Year’ award by the Florida Rural Water Association, a testament to his dedication and outstanding contributions.

A Career Built on Dedication

Scott’s journey in the water industry began in 1992 with the Village of Palm Springs in Palm Beach County, Florida. Over 12 years, he developed a strong foundation in utility maintenance, specializing in distribution systems and lift stations. His passion for operations led him to pursue his Florida “B” Water License, a milestone that set the stage for future success.

In 2004, Scott and his family relocated to Marion County, where he joined Marion County Utilities. Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, he earned dual “A” certifications in both Water and Wastewater. His leadership abilities propelled him to roles as Lead Operator and later Wastewater Manager. By 2012, Scott took on the role of Operations Manager for the City of Ocala, overseeing three major treatment facilities and a team of 25 operators and maintenance staff.
